Andy Gibb – The Bee Gees
Over the years I spent different times performing on the same TV Shows and interviewing The Bee Gees, Barry, Maurice and Robin and we socialised in London sharing a mutual passion for fast sports cars, naturally Ferraris.
There was some eye brow raising street testing before street cameras.
However it wasn’t until I was disc jockey in Los Angeles that I met the brother who was not a full on Bee Gee.
They did however appear together once in concert when Andy was performing in Miami. Brothers Barry, Maurice and Robin joined him onstage. Andy became a real Hollywood music heart throb with the Brothers Gibb vocal talent.
Andy was at his peak in 1978 at age 21 he had 3 #1 Billboard Hits. But as quickly as his star rose, It came crashing down and in 1988 he went to Rock N Roll Heaven. His loss was felt deeply by his brothers.
But his music lives on through “I just want to be your everything” “An Everlasting Love” and “Love is thicker than Water.” Andy’s biggest hit and Billboard Magazine’s was #1 hit of 1978 “Shadow Dancing” the song was written by all four brothers in LA and rumoured to have been written in ten minutes.
Andy Gibb was truly a talent who went far too soon.
