Why Fans Still Want To Stay Updated On Sade Now
Why are fans still curious about Sade now? Helen Folasade Adu, professionally known as Sade Adu, is a Nigerian-born British singer whose legendary status isn’t up for debate. However, with the bulk of her discography being ‘80s and ‘90s releases, it’s impressive to see fans of today continue to take an interest in her life and potential projects.
At Jukebox Saturday Night, we sing the praises of timeless greats from the retro ages of music, from the likes of Poison Ivy Rorschach. So, we completely get the continued fascination with a musical genius like Sade now, and we’re here to break down what makes her impact so enduring.
Reason #1: She has shaped and redefined music genres.
Anyone who has listened to Sade knows that her music is in a class by itself. As the lead singer of the Sade band, she has blurred the lines between genres, creating uniquely evocative tracks that blend the influences of soul, R&B, smooth jazz, and sophisti-pop. This eclectic style makes her tracks sound effortlessly mellow and groovy regardless of the innovative musical intricacies their creation demands.
From hits everyone knows like ‘Smooth Operator’ to her instrumental tracks, Sade’s experimental approach to music pays off every single time, pushing the boundaries of genres and drawing the attention of diverse audiences. Even now, her songs remain timeless and keep fans curious about when she’s dropping her next track.
Reason #2: Her music continues to inspire artists.
With a discography that has so heavily influenced music as we know it today, it’s no surprise that Sade now is known as a strong influence on artists across genres. From fellow R&B singers like Beyonce and the Brandy to metal frontman Chino Moreno, many acts have cited her as an inspiration. In fact, dozens of artists have even directly sampled Sade’s work throughout the years.
This continued referencing of Sade throughout the years further cements her enduring relevance among listeners – both longtime fans and people just discovering her through their favourite artists.
Reason #3: The mystery of her personal life keeps people curious.
Sade has been lauded and recognized throughout the years. Her hits are no stranger to Billboard Hot 100 and other charts. Plus, she’s gotten her fair share of accolades, including a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album, another for Best New Artist, and two Grammys for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. However, even with all the recognition, fans don’t know that much about her life.
Sade now is known for her reluctance to keep up a public persona. She likes to stay away from the limelight, rarely giving interviews and avoiding participating in promoting her work. The singer doesn’t even have a social media presence, so there is hardly ever any information on her personal life going around the web.
Her mysterious nature has made fans wonder, ‘Where is Sade now?’ While avoiding the spotlight has given her more privacy than most artists, it has further piqued interest in her current life.
Reason #4: Her sporadic releases make fans always anticipate more.
You’d think that after more than a decade without a new album from Sade, fans would give up awaiting updates. However, she has gone on long hiatuses in the past. There was even an eight-year gap between Sade albums Love Deluxe (1992) and Lovers Rock (2000). After that, she went another ten years before releasing the studio album Soldier of Love (2010).
Because of these hiatuses, fans know that Sade rightfully just takes her time before creating and releasing the masterpieces she’s known for. After all, Sade herself mentioned that the breaks she takes to focus on her family and personal life are exactly what she needs to continue making music. ‘You can only grow as an artist as long as you allow yourself the time to grow as a person,’ she said.
